Haruka Nanase has a special passion for swimming and water.
Makoto Tachibana led Haruka into the world of water, Rin Matsuoka led him into the world of competitive swimming. Through swimming the meet new friends and bump heads with new rivials. Togther they comes to a never before seen place in their lives through the special bond they now share.
Free! -Eternal Summer- , a coninuation of the previous anime that takes place a few years in the future, started broadcasting in July 2014.
In the last summer of high school, Haruka was at a loss about what his future would be, however he knows that he has formed priceless bonds and has a new found family with this friends he made in high school. Though this he knows that he can now finally start pursuing his future goals.
High Speed! Free! Starting Days is a prequle movie that was released in December 2015 and takes place when Haruka was a jr. high school student life is beginning to unravel.
Haruka meets two new friends Ikuya Kirishima & Asahi Shiina. Haruka discovers the joy of being apart of another great team.
The spcial editon of Free!-Take Your Marks- was announced in October 2017 and features the everday lives of Haruka and hisfriends post high school graduation.
And then, July 2018.

Series finally enters a "new chapter"!
After graduating from high school, Haruka and his friends have all started on the journey of their new futures. Haruka reunites with one of his friends Asahi whom he sawm on a team with in jr. high. Together they reminisce about there time as kids and an memory of Ikuya from that time comes back to Haruka.
Makoto, who moved to Tokyo with Haruka, started to pursue a new dream.
Rin, who left for Sydney, has a very unexpected encounter.
Will these new futures they have chosen lead to a new battle or will they have to face the past they all decided to leave behind...?
From Elementary school students to junior high school students, to high school students, and now finally college students.
The story of friendship and youth that Haruka and his friends have made in the water.
